Funding for Research and Student grants


  • South Africa/France Science and Technology Research collaboration 2014 Joint Protea Call for project proposals is open!!

Closing date 25 July 2014


Background
The South Africa/France Protea joint call has been created to develop the relationship between the French and South African scientific communities through joint research. The purpose of the cooperative programme is to encourage exchange between researchers and to develop a synergy between the two scientific communities, thereby developing a durable network.
Areas of Cooperation
All fields of research are eligible. However, priority will be given to projects in:  
  • Nanoscience/Nanotechnology
  • Life sciences
  • Biotechnology
  • Energy
  • Humanities/Social sciences
  • Geosciences
  • Astronomy
  • ICT
In terms of human capital development, South African applications from previously disadvantaged researchers are encouraged, as is the involvement of historically disadvantaged higher education institutions.
Duration of projects
The projects will be supported for a period of two years.

  • PhD and Master grants available from the Ambassade of France in South Africa for South African nationals:
30 grants per year are allocated for South African students.
- Call for Masters grants is open at the start of each year.
- PhD grants can be requested all year long, but should be done with a co -registration between a French and a South African university.
